The impact of this connectivity is enormous, for example, the
number of internet users is increasing exponentially. Right
now, 900 PCs are connected with the internet and the
connection is increasing day by day. This high speed internet
connectivity is encouraging various Departments and Faculties
to establish their own computing labs. In this way, the
developing computing infrastructure is ensuring a strong
bonding among the community people within the university and
abroad. The high speed internet connectivity is enabling the
central library of
Chittagong
University to subscribe various online journals and e-books.
Teachers are spending their time more on the internet to
enhance their knowledge and to interact with other
universities abroad. This scenario is also true for the
students.
Thus, through a single pragmatic decision taken by the present
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abu Yusuf has changed
the overall knowledge scenario of Chittagong University, which
is now more dynamic and evolving. Hence, the University is
moving towards to become a “Centre of Academic Excellence” in
the real sense. Teachers and students are allowed to use the
internet facilities starting from 8.00 a.m. (morning) to
12.00 p.m. (night) everyday, which is really a significant
development in the context of Bangladesh. The present
administration is working day and night to make the internet
facilities more effective and well-organised because it would
like to implement e-governance and e-learning at this
university. Thus, the slogan “Internet for everyone” will
become reality. We hope, this digital revolution at Chittagong
University can be seen as an example to follow for the
country.
