The Chittagong University Library is situated in the University Campus which is about 22 km. away from Chittagong Port City. It was launched in the month of November 1966 in a temporary building.

In 1990, the library was shifted to its own modern building. At present, the total floor area of the library is 56,700 sft. It is the central point of the University Campus having being surrounded by the halls of residence and different faculty buildings.

The Library is managed by the Library Committee consisting of 15 members including Dean of all faculties headed by the Vice-Chancellor as Chairman.

At present, the library collection consists of about 3 (three) lacs volumes of books and over 35,000 bound back volumes of journals. There are Reference and Rare collection also.

There are systems of book loan and inter-library loan. Library provides Current Awareness Service, Photocopy Service, CD-ROM Search Service, Internet Service, Online Journal Search Service etc.

At present, the library is the subscriber of a number of reputed Online Journals, allowing searching and downloading at over 12 thousand journals to its users.
